IVF Treatment Costs Are Now Tax-Deductible in Taiwan!

A lot of soon-to-be parents have been asking: "Can IVF costs be claimed on our tax return like other medical expenses?"

The answer is — yes, now they can! 🎉

New official announcement from Taiwan's Ministry of Finance

If you receive treatment (IVF, IUI, etc.) at a government-recognized fertility institution and your treatment was subsidy-approved, your out-of-pocket portion can be claimed under "Medical & Maternity Expenses" on your income tax return.

Eligible for whom

  • Yourself, your spouse, or a declared dependent

👉🏼 Any subsidy-approved fertility treatment counts.

Important notes

  • The deductible amount must first subtract government subsidies and insurance reimbursements
  • In other words: only what you actually paid out of pocket is deductible

Documents to prepare when filing

  • Original medical receipts
  • Subsidy approval or disbursement documents

The new rule applies to any tax case that has not yet been finalized — meaning, from now on, you can use it.

For many couples on the fertility journey, this is genuinely meaningful help.

Fertility treatment involves egg retrieval, embryo culture, transfer — costly and stressful, but every step is filled with hope. The government easing some of that financial burden adds a small but real boost to everyone's journey to good news!

Wishing you all that you hope for — from Becoming. ㊗️
