Good Things Will Happen 🤗 Twin Baby Sisters Were Born Safely 💕
In the middle of the night, the phone by my bedside rang.
I was told there was an emergency and that I needed to return to the hospital immediately.
The mother, who was pregnant with twins, had been hospitalized for nearly four weeks for pregnancy support due to signs of preterm labor starting at 32 and a half weeks.
In the middle of the night today, the pregnancy could no longer be held off.
The pregnancy had already reached 36 weeks.
After discussing with the babies’ parents, we decided it was time for the baby sisters to be born.
I performed an emergency cesarean section.
The older sister weighed 1705 grams, and the younger sister weighed 1951 grams.
Both sisters were on the lighter side, but their crying, skin color, activity, and breathing were all good.
They are staying in incubators and do not need ventilators.
The parents and medical staff all breathed a sigh of relief and felt very happy 🤗
The twins’ mother is only 36 years old, but her AMH was only 0.7.
Last year, she underwent IVF for the first time and retrieved three eggs.
In early December last year, I performed single embryo transfer, SET, transferring only one day-5 frozen blastocyst.
Very rarely, this resulted in the pregnancy of these twin sisters.
Although they were born prematurely, both mother and daughters are safe 👨👩👧👧
This case tells us:
- Even if you are young, if ovarian function is poor, you should seize the opportunity and proceed with IVF treatment at the right time.
- Twin pregnancy has a higher risk of preterm birth, so the pregnancy journey requires careful care.
- To avoid multiple pregnancy, single embryo transfer, SET, should be chosen. However, if the embryo develops well, it is still possible for twins to occur. This year, I have already had two such twin pregnancies, and both were delivered safely.
