Rising infertility rates and growing awareness of fertility-friendly reproductive medicine

As late marriage and delayed childbearing gradually become more common, the proportion of people experiencing infertility has also increased year by year.

Fortunately, Taiwan’s reproductive technology is well developed. In recent years, some hospital reproductive centers have begun promoting fertility-friendly reproductive medicine. Through hardware upgrades, technological innovation, and warmer, more human-centered services, they hope to provide patients with infertility a better medical experience.

Rapid advances in reproductive technology improve the quality of medical care

Dr. Hui-Po Li, Director of the Reproductive Medicine Center at Taipei Zhongshan Hospital, explained that in the past, when patients with infertility needed to self-administer ovulation injections, the process was complicated. As a result, most patients chose to go to the hospital and have nurses assist with the injections.

Today, newer pen-style injections have been developed. They are easier to use, allowing patients to administer the injections at home. This reduces the number of hospital visits, saves time, and also lessens discomfort and pain during injection.

The rise of one-stop services protects patient privacy

During infertility treatment, patients may need to move between different areas of the hospital and wait in multiple locations. This can be time-consuming and may also make it difficult to protect privacy.

In response, the Zhongshan Reproductive Medicine Center in Taipei expanded and renovated this year, promoting an innovative one-stop service model. Blood tests, ultrasound examinations, outpatient consultations, and other treatment procedures are integrated on the same floor.

This not only saves patients time during visits, but also provides a more comfortable and private waiting environment.

Integrating obstetrics and gynecology services for complete care from conception to birth

Dr. Li pointed out that in addition to providing one-stop services, Zhongshan Hospital Reproductive Medicine Center can also integrate the hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology resources, offering patients complete care from trying to conceive to giving birth.

Through the promotion of fertility-friendly reproductive medicine, the center hopes to help more patients with infertility fulfill their dream of having children.
