【Good Pregnancy Story】
Recently, we received wonderful pregnancy news from Ms. Li, a 41-year-old woman.
She had undergone four IVF treatment cycles, but during each embryo culture process, most of the embryos showed abnormal division known as “Reverse Cleavage, RC.”
This abnormality refers to a phenomenon in which retrograde cell fusion occurs during embryonic cell division.
It may reduce the blastocyst formation rate and the rate of chromosomally normal embryos, thereby lowering the chance of successful pregnancy.
Although she still had a very small number of embryos that could undergo preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy, PGT-A, all results showed chromosomal abnormalities, meaning they could not be transferred.
After thorough consultation and discussion with Dr. Hui-Po Li and the Yun-I team in the clinic, Ms. Li decided to transfer two blastocysts with good morphology that had not undergone chromosomal testing.
Although there were risks, after considering her overall condition, it was deemed worth trying.
As a result, one blastocyst successfully implanted and progressed steadily to 11 weeks of pregnancy.
Because of her advanced maternal age, and because the embryos had not undergone PGT-A testing, she was advised to undergo chorionic villus sampling, CVS, to confirm whether the fetal chromosomes were normal.
After holding their breath while waiting for the test report, the results confirmed that the fetal chromosomes were normal.
This greatly eased the couple’s anxiety, and the Yun-I team was also overjoyed.
We also personally handed her the “Yun-I Graduation Certificate.”
Considering the risks of pregnancy at advanced maternal age, Dr. Li recommended that she continue regular prenatal checkups and follow-up care at a medical center.
We will also continue to care about her pregnancy journey and hope that both mother and baby remain safe.
