👨🏻‍⚕️ Is It Normal to Have Severe Menstrual Pain?

❤️‍🩹 Menstrual pain that makes you break out in a cold sweat, does not improve even after taking painkillers, or is so severe that you cannot go to work —

This is not because you are “too sensitive.” It may be time to see a doctor.

👨🏻‍⚕️ Did you know that menstrual pain can be divided into “primary” and “secondary” dysmenorrhea?

🚩 Primary dysmenorrhea

⭕️ Common in younger women, especially during the first few years after menstruation begins
⭕️ No underlying structural or pathological organ problem
⭕️ Excessive prostaglandin secretion → strong uterine contractions → menstrual pain
⭕️ Pain is usually most severe 1–2 days before or after menstruation begins, but it typically improves with painkillers

⚠️ Secondary dysmenorrhea

⭕️ Often seen in women aged 25–35, or even later, when menstrual pain begins to worsen
⭕️ May be associated with gynecological pathological conditions
➡️ Endometriosis
➡️ Adenomyosis
➡️ Chronic pelvic inflammation or adhesions
⭕️ Cause: Structural disease may irritate the uterus, cause adhesions, or lead to abnormal contractions → resulting in deep, persistent pain
⭕️ Features: Painkillers may have limited effect, and it is often associated with pain during intercourse, pain during bowel movements, anal pain, infertility, and other symptoms

When should you consider seeing a doctor?

We will share more next time.
